ROBOT LAYOUT FLAW
In this blog we’re reporting on the video clip posted online that high light the inherent flaw in the current robot layout at Food Lovers Market Bothasig. The mayor flaw is obvious when coming from the Edgemead direction and getting jammed in the right lane. This is because of traffic from the left not having a red robot synced with the green light of the system when coming from Edgemead. This then causes the Edgemead motorists not being able to get into the left lane early enough to be able to turn left, to go to FLM’s parking in Link Road. The Edgemead motorists then need to revert back to the right-hand lane due to pressure from more and more cars arriving in the lane that enters Vryburger Avenue from Bosmansdam Road. This in the end cause the Edgemead motorist(s) to continue straight on and having to take a detour around the Bothasig Square Centre to get into FLM’s parking from the opposite direction. One also will notice that the green left turn arrow is flickering pretty useless due to this layout flaw captured in this dash cam clip. Replacing the Yield sign with a robot that’s synchronized to be red while the Edgemead traffic have a green light should alleviate this problem.
