Most common vehicle parts stolen off parked vehicles:
* Catalytic Converters for containing prized platinum, palladium, and rhodium.
* Wheels and Rims for their high resale value and quick to remove, especially alloy wheels.
* Car Batteries as they are easily accessible and in high demand.
* Airbags are expensive and targeted for quick resale.
* Tailgates are frequently stolen from trucks/bakkies.
* Side mirrors, headlights, and badges.
Protection Tips:
The above items are targeted because they are easily removed, valuable, and lack identifying marks, making them easy to sell on the black market.
* Park in well-lit, secure areas or garages.
* Engrave your VIN onto components to make them less attractive to thieves.
* Install devices like wheel locks, catalytic converter cages, or alarm systems with motion sensors.
